Below are some statistics based on the answers from 3000 users of our online assessment system

If a front wheel drive vehicle started to skid at the rear end, what would you do to avoid the car getting into a spin or hitting anything?

A/ Turn the steering into the direction that the car is skidding and depress the clutch

B/ Avoid turning the steering wheel and press the clutch

C/ Turn the steering in the direction that the car is skidding and press hard on the brakes

D/ Keep the steering pointing in the direction that you want to go and ease on the accelerator

E/ Turn the steering into the direction that the car is skidding and lift off the accelerator

A Staggering 77% of users gave the wrong answer to this question!
In fact 60% actually gave one of the most dangerous answers!

Most drivers overestimate their Skid Control Ability!

We also found most drivers were unaware of their lack to of skid control knowledge with more than 70% confident of being able to regain control if their vehicle started to skid.

When did you last take a Skid Pan Course? 

Users were also asked if they had had any skid pan training in the last 5 years. A massive 9 out of 10 had never received any form of skid control training.

These statistics do not of course take into account the fact that only a small percentage of drivers who do know the correct skid control theory are in fact likely to have the practical skills required to control a skid.
